While we don’t do in-house repair and restoration of diamonds at Alberta Diamond Exchange, it’s important to understand the process so you know what it will take and how it will improve your diamond.
The time it takes to repair pieces of jewelry will depend on the damage. Common issues include a broken clasp or chain, a missing gemstone, or a tangled chain that seemingly can’t be untangled. Oftentimes, these issues can be solved. However, another issue that can happen sometimes is a chipped gemstone. Unfortunately, when a gemstone chips, it really can’t be repaired. Luckily, there are two things you can do. You can upgrade the gemstone to something new or have a jeweler recut the stone, making it smaller than the original but getting rid of the chip.
Over time, your diamond jewelry may not shine as much as it used to. Jewelry restoration can help all kinds of jewelry shine brightly again, including gold, silver, diamonds, and other precious stones. In addition, if you’ve come into some older jewelry through a loved one, estate sale, you can also have it restored so it looks good as new.
If you’re in the market for a new engagement ring or are looking to trade in your jewelry, Alberta Diamond Exchange is the place to go!
